Our Story
Founded in 2013, family-owned ever since
Najars Engineering is a civil and structural engineering firm founded and incorporated in the summer of 2013, owned and operated by co-founders Mariam and Bashar Najar.
As first-generation Americans and the children of entrepreneurial parents, Mariam and Bashar shared a drive to follow in their families' footsteps — building a local business that serves its community and treats its clients and staff like family.

Co-Founder & President
Mariam Najar
Mariam co-founded Najars Engineering in 2013 and serves as President of the woman-owned civil and structural engineering firm. Under her leadership, the practice has grown to serve public agency, military, and private development clients across Southern California. She is a vocal advocate for women in engineering and leads the firm's commitment to mentorship, community involvement, and a family-centered workplace culture.
Co-Founder & Principal Engineer
Bashar Najar, P.E., LEED AP BD+C
Bashar co-founded Najars Engineering in 2013 and serves as the firm's owner and principal engineer, leading all civil and structural design work. A UC San Diego graduate, licensed Professional Engineer, and LEED Accredited Professional, he previously held senior project management roles at WSP, BergerABAM, and Parsons. Today he oversees Najars' project portfolio across public agency, military, and private development clients in Southern California.

Gene Rabe
Lead Civil Design Engineer
Gene is a civil engineer with more than 25 years of experience in site development and design. Before joining Najars in 2023, he held senior civil engineering and project delivery roles across Southern California on a broad range of public agency and private development projects. He brings deep working knowledge of grading, drainage, and site design, with the agency familiarity that comes only from a long regional career.
Aiden Henry, P.E.
Senior Civil Design Engineer
Aiden is a Senior Design Engineer leading civil site development work across Southern California. A licensed Professional Engineer, his experience spans stormwater BMP design, right-of-way and improvement plans, and site development for public agency and private development clients. He focuses on the technical fundamentals — hydrology, BMP sizing, and grading — and on clear documentation that keeps projects moving through agency review.
Katherine McInarnay
Civil Design Engineer III
Katherine is a Civil Design Engineer with over eight years of experience in site development and design. Her work spans technical design development, permit processing, and agency coordination — moving projects efficiently from early entitlements through construction documents. She focuses on clear communication, strong collaboration, and anticipating challenges early to keep projects on track.
Andrew Mosqueda, E.I.T.
Civil Design Engineer II
Andrew is a Civil Design Engineer supporting site development projects across the firm's civil practice. As an Engineer-in-Training on the path to professional licensure, he focuses on the fundamentals of civil design — grading, site layout, and construction documentation. His methodical, research-driven approach reflects a strong foundation in civil engineering principles.
Anthony Stephan
Civil Design Engineer I
Anthony is a Civil Design Engineer contributing to site development and design projects across the firm's civil practice. A graduate of San Diego State University with a degree in civil engineering, he supports the team with technical drafting, design calculations, and project documentation, building toward professional licensure.
